Emergency Crews Respond to Car Crash | PRESS RELEASE

On June 23 at approximately 12:52PM The Tyngsborough Police Department received a 911 call for a motor vehicle accident on Dunstable Road in Tyngsborough by the Route 3 Overpass near the Westford Line.

Officers arrived and found two motor vehicles with heavy front end damage, from an apparent front end collision. Both vehicles only had operators and no passengers… both operators were trapped in the vehicles.

Tyngsborough Fire Department and Westford Fire Department worked to free both operators,

Nashua, NH Fire Department assisted as well.

Vehicle #1 was a 2006 Ford Fusion driven by Lauren M. Calandrella, 19, of 64A Kendall Road in Tyngsborough, MA

Vehicle #2 was a 2007 Chrysler 300 driven by Jennifer Lawson, 36, of 11 Bowers Landing, Apt. 108, Merrimack NH. It took firefighters over an hour to free her from the vehicle using the jaws of life.

Both were med-flighted to Mass General Hospital in Boston with severe lower body injuries.

State Police Accident Reconstruction team was called out for a reconstruction. Initial investigation shows one vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the other vehicle, it’s not clear at this time which vehicle crossed the center line.

The accident is still under investigation, there are no witnesses at this time, anyone with information is asked to call the Tyngsborough Police Department at (978)649-7504

Police Respond To Drowning at Long Pond

On 6/16/10 at approx. 3:40PM the Tyngsborough Police Department received a 911 call transferred from State Police for a possible drowning at #7 Alden Street in Tyngsborough.

Tyngsborough Police and Fire Departments responded.  Initial witnesses reported that a 14 or 15 year old boy was swimming and began having trouble, another swimmer went over to help him and she couldn’t keep him above water and he went under.   Others came to help but were too late and not able to find him.

Additional help was requested from Dracut Fire, Lowell Dive Team, State Police Dive Team, State Police Airwing to help locate the victim.

The victim was pulled from the lake at approximately 5:37pm and transported to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:02PM.

The victim was identified as Idemudia Eboigbe, 15 yrs old, of #112 Katherine Street Lowell MA.

Environmental Police have jurisdiction and are conducting a accident reconstruction.  The location of the drowning in the water of Long Pond and is near where the towns of Tyngsborough Dracut and Pelham NH border each other.

Tyngsborough Detective Sgt. Richard Howe, along with Dracut detectives are also assisting in the investigation.
