Motor Vehicle Accident Rollover Junior Operator

On June 22nd at 2:10AM we received 911 calls for a rollover accident on Sherburne Avenue near #103.  Officers arrived and found a 2000 BMW 328CI on its roof in the driveway of #103 Sherburne Ave.


Investigation revealed that the juvenile operator, 16yr old male from Lowell was operating at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the left hand turn heading south after Butterfield Road and impacted Pole #44, drove over a rock wall, then a fence and then rolled over onto its roof, nearly striking other cars in the driveway and the home at #103 Sherburne Ave.


The operator and other juvenile passengers were treated at the scene for non life threatening injuries and transported to Lowell General Hospital.  The passengers were all from Lowell as well, 15 year old female, 14yr old male and 13yr old female.


The operator will be summoned to court for 1. operating after hours as a juvenile, 2. junior operator passenger restrictions, and 3. operating a motor vehicle as to endanger.

Communications Specialist Position Opening





Position:  The Tyngsborough will be conducting a selection process for the appointment of one (1) Communications Specialist.


Duties:   A Communications Specialist for the Tyngsborough Police/Fire Department is responsible for the appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency calls received in the 911 call center.    Responsibilities include all communications for the Tyngsborough Police/Fire departments, requests for mutual aid from surrounding communities and specialty entities, etc.  The Communications Specialist is responsible for adhering to all prescribed protocols for all entities involved in any incident.  In addition the Communications Specialist facilitates all emergency communications along with the Tyngsborough Highway Dept.  Call center operates 24hr a day and shifts are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.


Compensation:  The position of Communications Specialist is a union position, therefore subject to all clauses within the contract between the Town of Tyngsborough and the union.   The starting salary for this position is $40,188.41 and includes all benefits offered by the Town of Tyngsborough to its employees.

2012 June 18 School Bus Accident

Bus Accident

On June 18th at 2:47pm multiple 911 call were received reporting a motor vehicle accident on Middlesex Road at Westford Road with unknown injuries.  Officers arrived and observed a small yellow school bus had struck a minivan school bus from behind.

Investigation revealed that the operator of the small yellow school bus had reportedly been tailgating the minivan school bus prior to the accident.  When the minivan bus stopped at the intersection, the small yellow bus struck it from behind causing rear end damage and breaking the rear window and pushing the minivan into the intersection.

The operator of the small yellow school bus, Erik K Paulik 37yrs old of 170 Amherst Street Apt #21 in Manchester NH, was questioned and then given a series of field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested for

1. Operating under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor

2. Child Endangerment while Operating under the Influence

3. Fail to slow approaching an intersection

He was held at the Tyngsborough Police Station on $10,000 cash bail to await court in the morning, he will be arraigned at Lowell District Court.

There were no reported injuries, the small yellow school bus contained two adult bus monitors and four students, the minivan school bus had four student passengers.  The students were leaving a school in Chelmsford, the small yellow school bus is owned by a company in Manchester NH, the minivan is registered in Westford MA.

Burglary at Bianco’s Bakery

Sometime between Wednesday evening (June 12th) and early Thursday morning (June 13th) an unknown perpetrator broke into Bianco’s Bakery, located at 90 Progress Ave. in Tyngsborough.  The perpetrator entered through a front window after smashing it with a hammer, the only item stolen was a safe which was hidden in the establishment.  The safe contained a quantity of cash, the amount is being withheld at this time.  If you have any information relating to this crime please contact Lt. Stolen Snow Cat from Progress Ave.

On May 24th a 1969 Tucker Snow Cat was stolen from behind New England Transit @ 30 Progess Ave. in Tyngborough.  This Snow Cat is an antique and is valued between $20,000 – $25,000.  The perpetrator was caught on a surveillance camera and is yet to be identified.  The vehicle would have had to be removed on a flat bed as the tracks had been removed and stored in another location.  We are asking the public to take a look at the pictures of the Snow Cat and the perpetrator and to contact the Tyngsborough Police Department with any information.  Please contact Lt. Motor vehicle accident on Westford Road

May 31 At 7:12pm multiple 911 calls were received reporting a motorcycle accident on Westford Road in the area of the Elementary School. Officers arrived and found the motorcycle on fire and the operator of the Motorcycle with severe injuries after apparently colliding with a minivan. Tyngsborough Fire Department responded as well as ambulance. Initial Investigation shows that the motorcyclist identified as Richard Barletta, 36, of #293 Westford Road Tyngsborough, was operating a 1999 Kawasaki ZR1100 and collided with a 2010 Honda Odyssey operated by Heena Patel 17, of #250 Westford Road Tyngsborough. Richard Barletta was flown by MedFlight to Brigham and Womens Hospital, Heena and her younger brother were transported to Lowell General for non-life threatening injuries. It appears speed may have been a factor. Mass State Police Accident reconstruction team was called and is investigating.  As of 9:00AM Barletta is still in Critical Condition.
