On Saturday December 22, 2012 at approximately 2pm Tyngsborough Police Officers
responded to Duff’s garage for a reported disturbance taking place. The subject causing the disturbance was identified as William McCauley who had been arrested by the Tyngsborough Police Department the day before for various charges including assault and battery on a police officer and Operating Under the Influence of Liquor.

McCauley had gone to Duff’s to retrieve some belongings from his vehicle which had been towed there as a result of his arrest. While he was retrieving his belongings he caused a disturbance with employees who called the police. Just prior to the police arriving at Duff’s the subject was able to access a vehicle ignition key, he then left Duff’s with his vehicle.  He was subsequently stopped by Tyngsborough officers near the Tyngsborough bridge and arrested. McCauley, 26 years old of 35 18th street in Lowell, was charged with operating a motor vehicle after suspension and later bailed.

Juveniles arrested for Break and entering

On Friday December 21st at 3pm the Tyngsborough Police Department received a report of a break and
entering in progress at 265 Dunstable Road. Upon arrival officers saw two male subjects fleeing from the
residence through the woods. Tyngsborough Police Officers pursued the subjects, who were on mountain
bikes, into the woods.

Officer Michael Cassella caught up to the subjects and took them into custody without further incident.
Chelmsford Police Department had also responded to the report of the break in progress and assisted
Tyngsborough Police at the scene.

Officers found that the two subjects had taken a piece of wood and broken a window to a barn on the property.
A neighbor had witnessed what was occurring and had called the police.

Two juveniles, ages 13 & 15, were charged with B&E in the daytime for a felony and vandalizing property.
They were later released to their parents.

Arrest / Officer Injured

On Friday December 21st at 7:20pm Tyngsborough Police Officers responded to the area of
Pawtucket Boulevard after receiving a call from the Lowell Police Department. Lowell Police
reported that a black Chevrolet pick-up truck had been involved in a number of motor
vehicle accidents and had failed to stop.

Tyngsborough Police officers responding to the area spotted this vehicle and attempted to
stop it but the operator refused to stop and continued forward into traffic near the
Tyngsborough bridge. Officers were able to box the vehicle in as it approached heavy traffic
near the bridge. The operator, who was highly intoxicated and combative, was taken from
the vehicle and subsequently taken into custody. The subject continued to be combative
after he was handcuffed and at some point was able to turn and kick one officer twice, once
striking him in the side of his torso and once striking him on his hand (x-rays later revealed
that one of the officer’s fingers was broken). The subject was transported to the station and
during booking kicked another officer in the groin area.

The subject, William McCalley, 26 years old of 35 18th Street in Lowell is charged with;
1) OUI Liquor, 2nd offense
2) Failure to stop for Police
3) Assault & Battery on a police officer (2 counts)
4) Resisting Arrest
5) Marked lanes violation
6) Operating to endanger

A male adult passenger in the vehicle was found curled up on the passengers side floor
highly intoxicated and had blood on his face and mouth. This subject was unable to
communicate with officers and was subsequently transported to Lowell General Hospital by
Trinity Ambulance.
