Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon

TYNGSBOROUGH – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Tyngsborough Chief of Police Richard Howe have confirmed that two men were charged today following an altercation at Bridgeview Circle.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. Tyngsborough Police responded to Bridgeview Circle following a reported physical altercation between two parties who are known to each other and lived in the apartment complex. Police subsequently learned that Ryan Stetzler, 34, of Tyngsborough, became angry after allegedly observing a man scratching his vehicle with a zipper from his coat.  Mr. Stetzler allegedly contacted his neighbor (the man’s coworker), Joshua Davey, 26, to report what he had seen.  Mr. Davey then returned to the apartment complex.  Upon Mr. Davey’s return, the two men allegedly became engaged in a physical altercation in the parking lot.  During the altercation Mr. Davey allegedly pushed Mr. Stetzler to the ground injuring his shoulder.  Mr. Stetzler then began swinging a utility knife, striking Mr. Davey. Both men were transported to area hospitals and were treated and released.

Ryan Stetzler has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and is expected to be arraigned in Lowell District Court tomorrow.  Mr. Davey has been charged with assault and battery and will be summonsed to appear in Lowell District Court at a later date.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Tyngsborough Police, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
