Communications Specialist Position Opening

 TOWN OF TYNGSBOROUGH

POLICE/FIRE COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

 

 

Position:  The Tyngsborough will be conducting a selection process for the appointment of one (1) Communications Specialist.

 

Duties:   A Communications Specialist for the Tyngsborough Police/Fire Department is responsible for the appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency calls received in the 911 call center.    Responsibilities include all communications for the Tyngsborough Police/Fire departments, requests for mutual aid from surrounding communities and specialty entities, etc.  The Communications Specialist is responsible for adhering to all prescribed protocols for all entities involved in any incident.  In addition the Communications Specialist facilitates all emergency communications along with the Tyngsborough Highway Dept.  Call center operates 24hr a day and shifts are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.

 

Compensation:  The position of Communications Specialist is a union position, therefore subject to all clauses within the contract between the Town of Tyngsborough and the union.   The starting salary for this position is $40,188.41 and includes all benefits offered by the Town of Tyngsborough to its employees.

Process:  The hiring process for this position will consist of the following steps:

Review of letters and resume by appointed staff.

Written test on a date yet to be determined.

Oral board on a date yet to be determined

Thorough background investigation

Final candidate presented to the Board of Selectmen for appointment

Employment to begin on or about August 1, 2012
