On Saturday April 12th at 11:50pm Tyngsborough Police Officers responded to a Long Pond Road residence for a reported unwanted person. While responding officers were advised that a second caller had reported that there may be a firearm involved.
Upon arrival officers found a 66 year old female victim who reported that she had woken up to find that her son, who was not invited in her home, was in her bedroom sitting on a chair. She immediately told him to leave however he refused and pulled out what the victim described as a large hunting knife and told her he was going to kill her. After a brief confrontation with the victim, this subject fled prior to police arriving; a short time later Tyngsborough officers located this subject in Dracut just over the Tyngsborough town line.
The Dracut Police Department k-9 unit and State Police arrived to assist Tyngsborough officers; they subsequently searched for the knife used in the assault however it was not located.
Robert Connorton, 46 yrs. old of Lowell was arrested and held at the Tyngsborough Police Department over the weekend, he will be arraigned at Lowell District Court on Monday morning, he is charged with;
- Assault to Murder
- Armed Assault to Murder a person over 60 years of age
- Intimidation of a witness
