Fatal Motor vehicle accident

On Saturday 12/6 at 1:00 a.m. the Tyngsborough police and fire departments responded to Pawtucket Boulevard for a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of the Lowell Vocational Regional High School.  While responding, the officers instead found the accident scene in the area of 58 Pawtucket Boulevard.  A 26 year old male of Dracut (name being withheld at this time) stated that his vehicle had been struck by another vehicle, his vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Altima, had sustained heavy front and drivers side damage; the operator sustained apparent minor injuries and was transported to Lowell General Hospital.

Tyngsborough officers immediately began searching the area for the second vehicle; an officer then located the second vehicle (2005 Acura TL) nearby in the parking lot of a business.  The operator was entrapped in the front driver’s seat with obvious life threatening injuries.  The Tyngsborough Fire Department was able to remove the victim from the vehicle who was then transported to Lowell General Hospital.

The female operator, 28 yrs old of Lowell (name being withheld at this time) was later pronounced deceased at Lowell General Hospital.

The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction team and Tyngsborough Police Detectives processed the scene and will continue to investigate the cause of this accident.  A preliminary investigation indicates that the female victim’s vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway, striking the Nissan Altima.  Both vehicles have been impounded pending further investigation.

There are no charges pending at this time.
