Detective Sergeant Bourque joined the Tyngsborough Police Department in 1994 as a reserve officer. He completed the full-time Lowell Police Academy in Dec. of 1997, and graduated #1 academically. He assumed the rank of Sergeant in 2000. For most of his full-time career he has been tasked with supervising the late night shift. July of 2011 he was moved to the Detective Sergeant position, working dayshift. He is in charge of criminal investigations of all varieties. Other responsibilities include: Director of Training, Supervisor of the Mountain Bike Unit, Hostage Negotiator, Keeper of the records (BT and PBT), as well as directing the award winning Tyngsborough Police Honor Guard. Sgt. Bourque’s proudest accomplishment as a police officer came in Oct. 2008 when he became a member of the NEMLEC SWAT team as an operator.
He attained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst MA in May of 1993 in Business Administration. Shortly thereafter he achieved his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College of Springfield MA.
