Chief Richard D. Howe

 

Position Description:

The Chief of Police is the Chief Executive Officer of the Tyngsborough Police Department.  As the executive and administrative head, he is responsible to the Board of Selectmen for the proper functioning and effective management of the Police Department.

Chief Howe has been serving the Tyngsborough Police Department since September 1995.

He assumed the rank of Chief of Police on July 1, 2013.

He was appointed to the rank of  Deputy Chief and Acting Chief by the Board of Selectmen on January 7, 2013.  He had previously  held the position of Detective Lieutenant.

He directly oversees the budget,  grants  and also serves as the Public Information Officer for the Police Department.

He holds a Juris Doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Law, he has a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College, a Computer Specialist Certification from Boston University and is currently working on a Masters Degree in Public Administration.
