Officers Respond to Water Rescue

On May 1 at 3:40 a.m. Tyngsborough Police officers responded to Phalanx Drive for a
suicide attempt in progress. The caller stated that a 56 year old male had jumped into
the Merrimack River. Officers proceeded down the riverbank and observed the subject
floating in the water near the shoreline face up and another subject attempting to help
him. Sgt. Shaun Woods was able to pull the subject to shore. The subject was breathing
but appeared to be suffering from hypothermia. The subject was treated at the scene by
trinity ambulance and Tyngsborough fire and subsequently transported to Lowell General
Hospital.
