Tyngsborough Police Department Job Posting – Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher

 Position:     Part-Time Dispatcher

Salary:         $  22.53   Per Hour

 

Summary of Duties:

Civilian dispatchers work under the direction of the Communication Supervisors and fall within the communications department under the supervision of the Chief of Police.  Dispatchers are responsible for answering and processing all incoming calls for Police, Fire, EMS, Highway, and Animal Control Operations.

All 911 calls are received and dispatched through the communications department using a computer aided dispatch system (CAD).  Responsible for the operation of telephone, radio and computer related equipment as necessary following established policies and procedures.  Duties include conducting law enforcement inquiries, data entry, cancellation and modification and receiving and dispatching medical calls using emergency medical dispatch (EMD).

 

Working Conditions:

Part-time position(s) do not receive benefits.  Part-time Dispatchers, once fully trained, will receive a minimum of eight hours per week and must meet all training requirements established by the State 911 Department.

 

Qualifications & Entrance Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work any shift including nights, weekends, holidays
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Be able to multi-task and work in a high-stress environment
  • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation

Certifications in E911, CPR, EMD, LEAPS, and experience with IMC preferred, but not required
