Peace Officers Memorial Day on Friday, May 14th

Town of Tyngsborough residents,

Tomorrow, May 15th, is Peace Officers Memorial Day, and this week is celebrated as “Police Week”.   In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as a day to honor Peace officer’s who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

On behalf of the Tyngsborough Police Department, please join me in thanking our Police Officers for the job they perform in serving our community.    I’m proud of this department, and particularly proud of the honest and hard working people who come to work everyday and serve our community with honor and integrity.

To properly honor May 15th, Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, and in accordance with tradition, I have ordered our flag be flown at half staff, and request that each officer wear a black mourning band across our badge.  This is our way to honor our fellow officers’ across this nation who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you, and please stay safe.
