Storm Update

A major winter storm will impact Tyngsborough beginning early this evening. Snow will begin as light flurries this afternoon, with the significant storm beginning early this evening. Heaviest snowfall will be between 10pm Monday and 10am Tuesday, with 12-18 inches expected during that time frame. Snowfall totals may exceed 20 inches by the time storm subsides late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. With the combination of winds over 40 mph; power outages are expected.

Public Safety, Public Works, School, and Emergency Management Officials have met and are prepared for a coordinated response. Governor Baker has declared a State of Emergency, and announced Travel Restrictions. Tyngsborough Police will be enforcing a parking ban on public ways as of 5:00pm so that Tyngsborough Highway Department crews and contractors can safely clear streets of snow and/or ice.

Residents are advised to complete preparations and to avoid travel beginning this evening, and to plan to remain in place through Tuesday evening.

Non-emergency services, including Tyngsborough Town Offices, the Public Library, and the Council on Aging, will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday January 27th.

An announcement regarding Tyngsborough Public Schools will be made by 7:00pm this evening. In all likelihood school will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday Jan 27th, and possibly Wednesday Jan 28th.
