Update on using our online resources, Firearm Licensing process

The Tyngsborough Police Department lobby remains open, however unless there is a critical or public safety need requiring you to come to the station, we strongly encourage everyone to contact us via:

– Telephone: 978-649-7504 or 911 for emergencies

– Our website: http://www.tyngsboropolice.com/forms

All forms, except firearm applications, should be emailed to: pdchief@tyngsboroughma.gov

FIREARM LICENSING

– All applicants should mail us their new or renewal applications.

– Applicant’s need to include a check for the application fee along with the application, no processing will be initiated without the appropriate fee included.

– Applications are also available on the FRB website: https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-a-firearms-license.

– As indicated in a previous press release we have suspended the fingerprinting and photograph portion of the process until at least April 6th.

FIREARM LICENSE RENEWALS

– For licensees who apply for a renewal prior to the expiration of their license, and who get a receipt acknowledging so, their license will remain valid until we approve or deny your license.  You will receive a confirmation that we have received your renewal application via email.

– For licensees who apply for renewal after the expiration of their LTC, c.140, sec.131(i) states that for the purposes of c.269. sec.10 an LTC shall be deemed valid for a period not to exceed 90 days beyond the expiration date unless the LTC is revoked. Note this provision applies only to LTC and not FID Cards.

We appreciate your patience during this unprecedented situation, and we will do everything we can to process your applications as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Chief Richard D. Howe
